As Sydney is set to become the city of lights for Vivid, Newtown Hotel is delighted to announce that it will host a pop-up bar at the Vivid Sydney Central Park site from 22nd May to 8th June.

Located in the aMBUSH Gallery Event Space on Level 3 at Central Park, the pop-up bar offers the ideal vantage point to enjoy a drink and catch the multitude of activity happening over the 18 days.

Spectacular 3D projections by renowned street artists Beastman and Reko Rennie will be displayed on the historic CUB Brewery building. aMBUSH Gallery and T-World will also host the “Streets Ahead” exhibition and conference. The exhibition will showcase the world of street culture with renowned contemporary urban artists from around the world.

The pop-up bar will also feature an eclectic music programme that ranges from rock to hip-hop, disco to dance and is sure to attract a host of guests for the duration of the festival.

KEY DATES INCLUDE:

Friday 22nd May:
Be part of the official launch of the Newtown Hotel Pop-Up bar. Renowned artist and musician Ears will also launch his new album, Floating Tokyo – a blend of future beats and ethereal atmospheric sounds.

Saturday 23rd May:
Go back to where it all began with DJ Huwston as he embarks on a journey through electronic music. From Kraftwerk to Acid House, Rave to Drum ‘n’ Bass plus Dubstep and all the wobbly bits from the noughties will get a run too.

Friday 29th May:
Money For Nothing DJs will take you on a journey deep into the archives of your Mum and Dad's revered record collection busting out more hits than a tradie's hammer. For the first time ever the whole crew will be assembled featuring Shane Parsons (DZ DEATHRAYS), Baker and Catkings (CRIES WOLF) and PEACHFACEKILLAH (MUM DJS).

Saturday 30th May:
Born in the UK, Deutsch Duke has immersed himself in the Australian music scene as an artist and producer, collaborating with Elizabeth Rose, Gypsy and The Cat, Cassian, and most recently, Flight Facilities on their new album. Catch him live at the Newtown Hotel pop-up bar.

Sunday 31st May:
RAIN SUPREME will guide you through the History of Hip Hop, so drop in for a Sunday Session with a difference.

Wednesday 3rd June:
FBi Radio veterans, Shag and Sweetie are set to create a mid-week party as they lead a mammoth musical journey covering more than a decade of the station’s greatest hits.

Thursday 4th June:
Purple Sneakers return not far from their roots of the Abercrombie Hotel to host Purple Sneakers Presents. Known for their cranking Sydney parties that they took to the rest of the nation, Purple Sneakers are set to kick start the long weekend early.

Saturday 6th June:
Dust off the dancing shoes and brace yourself for Saturday night fever as Stephen Ferris takes you on a journey through new and old gems of disco, soul, funk and groove.

Sunday 7th June:
It all wraps up with an epic closing party featuring Big Village All Stars who will showcase their special style of inner-west hip-hop with BV MC’s. It’s a public holiday the next day, so be sure to check it out.
Newtown Hotel Pop-Up Bar will run nightly from Friday 22nd May – Monday 8th June from 6pm-midnight at aMBUSH Gallery Event Space, Level 3, Central Park, 28 Broadway, Chippendale (opposite UTS).
