Patrick Ryan

Head of Innovation and Impact – SGCH

As Head of Innovation & Impact, Patrick’s role is to work in partnership with internal stakeholders to initiate, develop and implement projects that support SGCH’s strategic products and services, and customer service. Key to Patrick’s role is leading the development and implementation of evaluation frameworks and research methodology to measure program impact. Patrick commenced with SGCH in 2011 and has worked for 6 years across three business divisions on community renewal and business initiatives projects.  Key projects include SGCH’s Social Impact Framework, YFutures mentoring project, SGCH Tenant Engagement Strategy and Environmental Sustainability Strategy.

Patrick has over 20 years experience in the not for profit sector working at both operational and senior management and leadership levels. His experience spans across a variety of  sectors including youth at risk, employment services, education and training, disability services, local and state government, home and community care, community housing and urban development projects. Prior to SGCH, held a number of senior roles at leading employment service provider MTC Australia. For 5 years, Patrick was part of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for the Social Change division. The emphasis for the role was the development of a holistic strategy and business model demonstrating a significant social impact and financial sustainability for long‐term unemployed and young people in the greater Sydney metropolitan region. Key achievements include establishment funding for No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) in partnership with Good Shepard and National Australia Bank, successful bid for Innovation fund ‘Social Enterprise Sydney’ a newly incorporated not for profit enterprise and the establishment of Warakirri College, a network of independent high schools for disadvantaged young people across Sydney. Other notable achievements include a partnership with Housing NSW to deliver the Neighbourhood Link Service for social housing tenants in Redfern Waterloo social housing estate.

Patrick has a strong focus on continuous learning and growth and completed the Australian Institute Company Directors (AICD) Not for Profit Director Course, Crucial Conversations (Vital Smarts), Customer Service Training Program (Mary Gober International) and the Harvard Leadership Workshop for the Not for profit sector.
