After many years working on the conservation and sustainable management of historic gardens and parks in the UK, Europe and Australia — including long stints at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney and Centennial Parklands — Ian has spent the last decade providing leadership in heritage management and conservation across the Sydney Living Museums portfolio. This includes many of Sydney’s iconic buildings such as Elizabeth Bay House, Rose Seidler House, The Mint, The Museum of Sydney, Rouse Hill House and Farm, among other houses and museums. Ian recently co-authored 'Heritage in the City’s Future' — one of The Sydney Culture Essays published by the Committee for Sydney.
