Every night at 6pm, it’s Lights On! It’s always so exciting to flip the switch and see all the installations and projections shine!

As typically quieter evenings, Monday and Tuesday nights can be great to explore the lights in chill mode. To see everything, follow the neon birds – Future Natives – along the longest continuous Light Walk in Vivid Sydney history (something we’re super proud of!).

On Tuesday 31 May, catch Liars with special guests The Double at Sydney Opera House.

On Wednesday 1 June, hear lovable chef Adam Liaw chat about ‘How Taste Changed the World’ as part of Audible Live: Stories Made to Be Heard. On Vivid Sydney’s stages, thrill to Mi-Kaisha at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour,  GODTET’s Future Ancient Strings at the National Art School and all-girl act The Buoys at Sydney Opera House.

Thursday 2 June, chart Sydney’s style evolution with fashion editor Glynis Traill-Nash at Beautiful Freak in the Machine at the Powerhouse Museum. Make shapes with the irrepressibly fun, party starters Haiku Hands and Melbourne-based South Sudanese refugee and Afrobeat legend Ajak Kwai in a Tumbalong Nights free show at Darling Harbour.

Take a fascinating look at The Future of Drugs on Friday 3 June at UTS. Watch Pluto Jonze fire up his Lightscape Piano at the National Art School or get ready for the raucous and provocative Estonian rapper Tommy Cash at Carriageworks. Later, Prince of Polyester Bob Downe will have laughing til you cry at Vivid Sydney Supper Club.

On Saturday 4 June, sardonic UK crooner Baxter Dury makes his Sydney debut at The Metro Theatre, marrying disco sleaze with tales of London late nights. Meanwhile, we dare you to stand still as South Sudanese ‘King of Music’ Gordon Koang debuts a brand new collaboration with Brisbane DJ and Producer Sampology, joined by horn blazing afrobeat hip hop outfit True Vibenation, all free in Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour.

Recharge your idea-bank on Sunday 5 June. Is AI a force for good? Or? Find out at Big Brother is Watching. For sonic excursions, head into the Mystics with Jono Ma, Jonti and Babekühl at Carriageworks, blip out with glitch-pop experimentalist Kučka at Sydney Opera House, and jazz diva Emma Pask at Vivid Sydney Supper Club.
