Left Ear Records Showcase ft. Shahara-Ja

Left Ear Records was established in 2014 by two Melbourne music enthusiasts who have a passion for unearthing both new and old music that is somewhat left of center. Left Ear Records aim to broaden the audience that forgotten releases reach by unearthing quality boogie, afro-beat, jazz, blues, reggae and disco titles. The label prides itself on collaborating with original artists to produce releases that are of a high calibre and artistic integrity.  

Left Ear Records will be reissuing the sole recording by Sydney artist Shahara-Ja in March this year. Touring the Egyptian wedding circuit during the 80s, Shahara-Ja managed to cut one record with the help of an Egyptian sessional, a colleague working the circuit at the time. ‘I’m an Arabian Knight’ was originally released in ‘89 to an underwhelming response. Fast forward 27 years and the release has garnered cult status and is fetching high-prices on the second-hand market. Shahara-Ja will be performing his non-hit for the first time in over 20 years. Limited copies of the re-issue will be available for sale on the evening.
