Event Details

Greta Now is the stage name of solo performer Greta Balog. A multi-instrumentalist she pre-records her layered backing tracks and sings along to them on stage, performing with a swelling, drum machine laden, cocktail bar surealness that has you wondering both what is happening and why you can’t look away.

With recent release ‘Water Harvesting’ — an ode to the most beautiful truck she ever saw in her life one time — Greta Now’s mantra-like lyrics and eclectic synth lines make for an addictive listen. She has been sharing snippets of a 10-track album entitled ’This Is Greta Now’ that was largely recorded in her room in her hugely entertaining stage shows around Sydney and internationally.

Describing her songwriting as both “instrumental documentations of mundane events” and “her interpretation of full blown pop”, Greta Now’s upcoming album dives into her idiosyncratic obsessions: trucks, water and insect populations.

Greta Now is bringing her curiously danceable and contemplative melodies to a special evening on the mirrored stage of Golden Age Cinema and Bar.
