Event Details

"Jennifer’s the reason I did [The] White Lotus in the first place. Because I just wanted to write something for her and I just adore her." – Mike White, The New York Times

Join creator, writer and director of The White Lotus, Mike White, in conversation with star of the series Jennifer Coolidge. In a Vivid Sydney exclusive, these two long-term friends will do a deep dive into the power of storytelling, satire and friendship, featuring insightful and hilarious anecdotes from decades working in Hollywood.

The multi-award-winning series The White Lotus has dominated recent pop-culture, thanks to its biting wit, parody of the luxury class and the current appetite for 'eat the rich' satires. With season three on the way, Mike has transformed from a Hollywood underdog to a household name with a fascinating backstory, between writing blockbuster scripts (School of Rock, One and Only Ivan), acting, competing on both Survivor and The Amazing Race, and creating critically acclaimed films and TV series, including HBO series Enlightened.

The White Lotus has also caused something of a 'Cool-naissance', with Mike creating the series around actress Jennifer Coolidge, a long-term friend who stars in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons as lost multimillionaire Tanya McQuoid. Previously known for scene-stealing roles in comedies such as American Pie, Best in Show and the Legally Blonde franchise, the actor's talents have been recently celebrated, seeing her win awards at the Golden Globes, Emmys, Critics Choice Awards and SAG Awards for her work as Tanya.

In an exclusive event as part of Vivid Sydney's Global Storytellers series, the duo will discuss their career peaks and valleys and much more, in a fascinating, funny and unforgettable chat, moderated by Benjamin Law.
