In this frank in-conversation session, best-selling author and former wellness impresario Sarah Wilson examines the latest avalanche of conspiracy theories with Australia’s foremost health science professional and broadcaster Dr Norman Swan.
Together they’ll explore trust vs mistrust, evidence vs social proof, and the rise of ‘conspiritualism’ to uncover what fuels people’s doubt...particularly in experts.
Find out why conspiracy theories take hold, how they spread and what it takes to change the narrative.
In her latest book This One Wild and Precious Life, Sarah Wilson has turned her curiosity to explore why we are all feeling disconnected, baffled and disillusioned within our socio-political constructs. She wants to comprehend how our need for truth and certainty can be so easily hijacked.
As multi-award-winning producer and presenter of the ABC’s Radio National’s Health Report and the pandemic podcast Coronacast, Norman is the respected face of science. In his new book So You Think You Know What’s Good For You? he replaces medical myths, half-truths and misconceptions with facts and information.
Expect Sarah to ask Norman to debunk many of the myths floating around in the social-sphere and to opine on why they are impacting select groups, such as men and various socio-economic clusters, and Norman to ask Sarah for ideas on how to create a more connected and informed society.
